Dental Implants

Dental implants involve a titanium based anchor or screw that is implanted into the jaw bone, placed to secure a false tooth that will function and feel just like a natural one.

Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth. They are custom-created to match your natural teeth, filling the space where a tooth was extracted. With modern advancements in dental treatments, implants are a great alternative to partial or full dentures, and allow you to chew and talk naturally. They are a much better option than having no tooth at all, as they will restore your mouth back to optimal function and will prevent any loss of surrounding bone (which contributes to an aged appearance and shortening of the facial structure).

The first step of dental implant work requires taking X-rays of the jaw and head to determine suitability for implant surgery. A post is then implanted in the bone which will be used to keep the new tooth in place. Securing the replacement tooth to the post is completed when the site has successfully healed and the jaw is ready to support the new tooth or teeth. This healing phase involves the merging or fusing of the implant with the jaw bone, also referred to as “osseointegration”.

With proper dental health care, implants last a long time. They are an innovative way to support a variety of restorative and cosmetic dentistry services. Dental implants are the most comfortable and natural way to restore your missing tooth or multiple teeth.
